Disney Plus Not Compatible With My Device

Your device isn't compatible with this version - Disney+ Oct 3, 2020

  1. linleymeslier , Oct 3, 2020 :
    Greetings Community,

I can't install Disney+ on my OnePlus6T. The app does not even appear in Google Play, but it does show up in a Google search. However, I can't install because of the error in the subject line. The app installed fine on my OnePlus5T. Any ideas why it won't work with my O6T?

    Device Info:
    OxygenOs version: 10.3.5
    Build Number: A6013_34_200717

    Thanks.

Check if the phone is certified by Google.

Open Plastore>Settings, scroll to the bottom and see if it shows as certified.

If it is not certified. Did you buy the phone second hand, if so you may have a TMobile phone converted to a Global version.

Even though you can't download it through the playstore, you should be able to download the APK file and manually install it.
I'm guessing you might of already tried that.

The device is not certified and I did buy it second hand. Any workaround?

    I did. No success.

Try signing out and signing Inn!

    Or

Check location in the playstore for your country.

Sounds like it's a TMobile carrier phone which has been converted to a Global version. The issue is that the TMobile bootloader and the Global OOS won't allow the phone to be certified as it was originally a carrier based phone, and a lot of them are now on the 2nd hand market.

I'll call on @ironass and @drl431, they have info on how to identify if it's a TMobile converted to a Global version.

If it is, you may have to install the latest TMobile software to certify it. But wait till the 2 lads I mentioned above and see if they can confirm it with you. 👍

    Courtesy of @drl431...

To check if you have a T-Mobile (USA) carrier minority variant that has been converted to the global model go to...

Settings > About phone > Status > IMEI > do you have 2 identical IMEI numbers or 2 different IMEI numbers.

If you have 2 identical IMEI numbers, yours is a converted T-Mobile (USA) carrier minority variant which have been flooding the second hand market since Android 10.

Thanks for the tag @Caomhin .
There are a lot of refurbished OP6T (A6013) converted T-Mobile phones out there.
If phone has the same IMEI number repeated for sim slots 1 and 2, them you have one of these.
There will be security issues with streaming/banking apps because A10 can detect modified phones.
The easiest fix is to roll back to Android 9 and don't update beyond 9.0.17 OOS version.
But you can make some streaming apps work by side loading the apk instead of using the play store.

Edit: @ironass beat me to it (thanks for the tag).

I told you the other day that I liked your little wheeze for determining if a phone was a genuine global 6T or a converted T-Mobile (USA) model. Nice one! ;)

I went back to A9, installed Disney+ before upgrading to A10. Disney+ works fine. Thanks for your help.

Just an update to let you know that it won't let me install Netflix updates. I get the same compatibility error which I assume is due to the L1 certification of the OS.

If the system is showing as Not certified, then it won't let you upgrade Netflix.

If your phone is a TMobile converted phone as suggested above. You might have luck with that by installing the TMobile version of Android 10. But then you have to rely on TMobile to provide updates for the phone.

There is no easy way round it at present due to the mismatch of the Global Version of OOS you have installed and the possible TMobile Bootloader.
